FIRST Team 2172 Steel Unit-E

FRC Team 2172 Steel Unit-E was founded in 2007 at St. Edward High School, a private, all-boys school in Lakewood, Ohio. The team is open to St. Edward students and to girls from other local high schools.

We are part of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an organization whose mission is to inspire young people to become leaders in science and technology. Through mentor-based programs, FIRST students build engineering and technology skills while also developing confidence, life skills, and a commitment to their communities.

Program Outcomes

FRC Team 2172 Steel Unit-E includes students from St. Edward High School and Saint Joseph Academy, along with two mentors and three teachers. Students grow their programming and engineering knowledge through the program and forge relationships with their teammates and the community.

Specifically, members of FRC Team 2172 Steel Unit-E:

Apply engineering principles to the design, build, and operation of robots for competitions

Learn and use CAD and other engineering software

Gain hands-on experience with collaborative problem-solving

Program robots for both autonomous and human-operated modes

Travel to competitions

Volunteer in their community

Network with industry and engineering firms and companies
